Sometimes, it’s okay to buy a single seated ticket

When I heard about this concert, I didn’t think too much of it since Metallica had just got done with a tour, and they seem to tour pretty often.  Well, it seems the presales sold like a wildfire and it was such a shit show that fans complained online.  Of course I did the natural thing – waited for the public sale to buy tickets, which was even bigger shit show since the lowest get-in prices had reached ~$400 by then.  Trying to buy a pair was almost impossible since most of the tickets were gone by the presale.  I gave up on trying to buy a pair and looked for just a SINGLE TICKET.  Even then, that was a very tough pull since “a fan kept beating me to it.”  I eventually gave up, but left the window up for shits and giggles.  Then an hour later, I clicked around in the window, and lo and behold, I was able to buy a single ticket in the 200’s for $131 all in.  I figured it was worth the gamble.  I then tried to sell it back on TM since I saw other resale tickets on TM, but I think by the public sale, they disallowed people to relist the tickets back on TM.  I then threw it up on Stubhub since I found out they were going to do a 2nd show.

Over two weeks later, I was able to sell the ticket for a takehome price of $391, a profit of $261 or a 199% ROI.  CRAZY! If this was the presale window, I would have never touched a single ticket, but since demand was so high, it was okay buying a single ticket since you know, there are still SINGLE people out there who like to go to concerts too.  A few other factors at play made this concert so hot – a) the 20th anniversary of their S&M album and b) the opening of the Chase center.  I’m just kicking myself for not taking their presale seriously.  You know I’m gonna be on the 2nd show though!
