Review – Crowne Plaza Osaka, Japan

Introduction

During our last trip to Osaka, we decided to fit 4 people into the Crowne Plaza.  We had done the St. Regis last time, but we went ‘cheap’ this time.  I know most people stay at the Intercontinental, but this location isn’t bad and provides pretty good value.  We actually paid cash – about $160 a night for the room plus another ~$50 for the 4th adult)

Getting to hotel

We took the train to Osaka station, and outside near the Albi department store, there is a Crowne Plaza shuttle.  Saved us the ~15 minute walk with our luggage.

Our room

The room was bigger than we expected.  The hotel had emailed me a few days before warning us that 4 people would be tight in the room, but it was bigger than we expected.

Wifi

Don’t think there was a login; just connect and go.  No issues.

Conclusion

We walked to Dotonbori once from the hotel and walked past the St Regis.  Looking back, the St. Regis isn’t in a HORRIBLE location; while it’s in the “business” district, it’s closer to Dotonbori.  If you have no status and don’t care about breakfast, I think the Crowne Plaza provides a great value.  There’s also a convenience store right across the street.
