How to find out why Best Buy cancelled your order

Thanks to folks in my Slack, but I wanted to put it here to help you figure out why BBY is cancelling your orders.

Go to this URL and replace the end with your order number https://www.bestbuy.com/profile/ss/api/v1/orders/BBY01-xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Search the garbage text for cancelReasonCode

I’ve seen some that says “Fraud – Quantity Limit Abuse” which is self explantory. There’s also “Fraud – Reseller” which I think at that point, the account is toast. However, when I searched for a recent cancelled order, I saw “Order cancelled due to Fraud Negative,” which I’m assuming mean fraud positive?!? Anyway not sure why it’s giving me that message. Maybe it’s because I was using 2 different gift cards (that had been used on another account)? I know they’ve basically linked all of my accounts in their database already. And it was for a physical good with a limit of 3 (I was trying to buy my 3rd, so it wasn’t abusing quantity limits either.) Go figure BBY. Maybe you should let resellers buy from you to make up for your empty ass Black Friday stores!

  1. Thanks. Is there something like this for Walmart? CS tells me due to quantity limits, even when I only buy 1 item sometimes. They also can’t explain it or fix it.
