I had to CFPB Incomm to get my replacement VGC

About 2 months ago, I had written about how I had bought a tampered Vanilla VGC from Walmart. I called them up and emailed them the information that they requested. Two months passed and I had heard nothing back from them. I was going to call them, but I’ve heard reports they just give you more of a run around. The only thing that seems to work for people is if you CFPB them.

So on Saturday, I CFPB’ed them. And sure enough, on Tuesday, I get a reply from the email incommlossprevention@incomm.com:

This is InComm contacting you about your gift card issue, xxxxxx. We are shipping your replacement card to you thru FedEx. Please allow 2-5 business days for the card to arrive to you.. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This is a do not reply email box. If you have more questions or concerns please contact us at our customer service department, 1.800.571.1376

So basically, they just do nothing until you CFPB them. What a bunch of clowns.

  1. the scammers are getting smarter or into something we are not aware of. Last week I partially opened the VGC cards, they looks fine, no scrached numbers or PIN numbers since I had the tampered cards where the scammers removed the last 4 digits and pin number of the card. I purchased them, no issue. but when trying to liquidate them, the card reader wont’ read them at all, nothing happened when swiping the cards, it seems that cards have been demagnetized. I examined the cards carefully again and found out that the glue which glued the cards into the package have been removed, and replaced with double-sided tape to tape the cards onto the packages. I checked online, one card still have $500, one card has errors. I called the Incomm CS, they are not suprised at all then I told my card issues. they routinely deactived the cards and ask my mailing address to send the replacement cards. they said it will be 7-10 biz days. I asked specifically about the card which returned the error when I checked it online. the CS told me taht someone tried to redeem it on the website multiple times, but failed, so the card is locked and still has $500 on it. Do you guys know the new trick of those scammers? also be extremely carful when examining the cards when purchasing .

  2. oh man, i just mailed them the documents for 1 of tampered card . Its 500 $.

Its been 5 days. Should i wait for 30 days or CFPB them now itself ?

  3. What’s the point of opening the package before leaving the store? Will Walmart actually do anything if the card has been tampered with, or will they simply tell you to call the number at back of the card?
