Maximizing the Deal

Anyway, some of you have taken advantage of this offer and some of you have not.  If you haven’t, I suggest you do it; it’s a free $10 x number of AMEX cards you have.  So what’s the play here?

1. Get a free shipping plan on your account (read FM’s post)  Already used up your free trial and want it again?  Try to buy a PERSONALIZED personal gift card.  Pick the trial shipping plan and use code – EARLYFSC or EARLYFSB (both expire 11/1) and it MIGHT give you a credit for the shipping on checkout.  This worked as of the summer, so YMMV now.  If that doesn’t work, create a new AMEX account and sign up for the 3 month trial again.
2. Then buy a $200 GC.  Use any of these free codes to remove the $3.95 fee – SUMPRC, SUMBB, EMSVCA, SUMBC2.  This means you’re paying $200 for a $200 GC and you get $10 AMEX Offer back.  Forget going through a portal since those will be clawed back since you used a code.
3. Rinse and repeat.
4. Now here’s the money shot – I was able to log in to my account [that already had free shipping] and I used my wife’s SPG card to buy the AGC.  Worked like a charm. I then used AU cards on her account and those worked as well.  I think this works since our address is the same.  I have not tried my mom’s AMEX since she has a different address (but it MIGHT work), and I haven’t tried to buy using a Serve card (I heard those didn’t work in the past).  Feel free to try both; I know I will.
5. So how do you liquidate these $200 AGC’s?  You can pay your eBay fees.  You can buy gift cards from Raise.  You can use them on un-bonused everyday spend, just like you would have if it was an SPG card.
