Review – Hyatt Regency Vancouver, British Columbia Presidential Suite

Introduction

I had actually reviewed the Hyatt Regency Vancouver once before.  I was headed up to BC for a 1 night stay and was trying to decide between the Westin (where my friends were staying) and the Hyatt again.  Ultimately I chose to go back to the Hyatt because 1)Globalists get free parking (~$25 CAD value) and 2) I was upgraded last time and was hoping they’d upgrade me again this time. The week before my stay, the VIP manager emailed me asking how she could help me with her stay, and I told her we were celebrating a birthday and how awesome the suite was the last time and if she could make it happen again this time.  Of course she said it would depend on availability, which I understood.

When we checked in at around 4pm, the clerk seemed to take a long time reading his screen (maybe notes on the reservation.)  He asked me if I self parked and then gave me a parking ticket to use to get out of the garage.  After that, he told me they had in fact upgraded me to the Presidential suite.  Awesome!  My wife and I then went down to the club lounge for some hors d’oeuvres.  The spread was great (pictures below,) however there was no open bar (they had an honor bar.)  After about 30 minutes or so, my friends came by, and I showed them my suite.  When we got back to the room, we saw that they had dropped off a nice bottle of sparkling wine and the tallest slice of cake I’ve ever seen!  After that, we left for dinner.  We skipped breakfast in the lounge to go get dim sum instead.

The hotel has shown me quite a bit of love so far.  Not sure if you’ll get upgraded to the suite as well, but if you’re thinking of a place to stay in Vancouver, I think it’s a solid option, especially if you are Globalist.
