The best phone car mount

Introduction

I’ve tried many phone car mounts over the years.  Back then, I had my GPS unit and tried to stick it to the windshield, and of course, it’d fall down.  Then I tried to buy a sandbag weight thing and just threw it on your dash (I still have it today and it works great.)

As for phones, I’ve tried the magnetic air vent mount, which worked up until I got the iPhone 6S Plus.  At that point, the weight of the phone was too much for the air vent mount.  I didn’t want any more windshield mounts due to my history with the GPS units falling down.  I also didn’t want any of those “sticks to the dashboard” mounts since I don’t trust those and could never get it to actually “stick.”  Eventually I ran into an article somewhere and they said the CD car mount was the best.

I went and bought one, loved it so much, I got a 2nd one for the other car.  I was worried it’d damage the CD player, but it doesn’t go in far enough to damage it.  There is a screw that you twist, which tightens it in the CD slot.  When I get in the car, I push the button on the back of the unit and it “opens.”  I then put my iPhone 6S Plus in, then squeeze in the sides to tighten it.  I’ve had it for a month now and my phone hasn’t fallen off once yet.  However, the whole unit fell down once, but that was because my wife didn’t tighten it enough in the back.  It’s also great because you can usually tap on the screen since the audio buttons for the CD player is nearby.  See picture below:

    1. Paul, I’m not sure if I want to trust my $700 cell phone to some binder cips. I’ll just pay $9 for the CD mount, which I’ve found to be awesome so far.
