Back in July 2026, Best Buy had a 10% off sale on Albertson’s gift cards. Since that’s my go-to grocery store and grocery store gift card discounts are hard to come by, I went ahead and placed an order at 8am or so. The gift cards were sent out within 5 minutes. I then placed another order at around noon. I got those gift cards within 5 minutes too. I then placed a 3rd order at 2pm. The gift cards didn’t immediately come and so I thought the order was going to get cancelled.I then switched to P2’s account (different address, same IP and PC) and tried to place an order. That first order was cancelled within 12 minutes due to “exceeded quantity limits.”
I need to step aside real quick and say that I’m sure Best Buy has linked all of my accounts. A long time ago, around the time when my local Best Buy banned me, I remember buying something at a store and the sales rep turned the screen to me and showed me all the email addresses that I had on file. Ever since then, I’ve tried to buy on P2’s account and everything gets cancelled. I mean back in 2024, I was just trying to buy an Apple TV for personal use on what I thought was my main Best Buy account and that was cancelled too. I could only get normal regular personal orders to stick on one specific account. So I’ve been using that account ever since. Mind you, I don’t do BG’s or any funny business on the account; it’s just personal electronic purchases on the main account (the same act that I had just bought the Albertson’s GCs.) This is also why I didn’t bother trying to buy more Albertson’s on my other BBY accounts (I just assumed they are all linked.) Back to my story – miraculously, the next day at 1pm, my 3rd order was delivered.
Fast forward to early September 2026. Another Albertson’s sale from Best Buy. This time, I did 2 orders on my main account and got both orders delivered. I then tried to place a 3rd order like I did in July, but this time, the system blocked me from even checking out. When I tried to check out my cart, an error popped up basically saying, “Sorry you’ve exceeded the limits based on previous orders.” I had never seen this message before. Naturally I went to try P2’s act and she was blocked at checkout too for exceeding limits (all of this is on same PC and IP) w/o having even purchased any items. I then went to try my mom’s account and somehow they let her 2 orders go through (remember, same PC and IP but diff address and cc.) I then tried an account I had made YEARS AGO but never bought anything on it and shockingly, they let me buy the GC’s too.
I was able to order from 5 different accounts on same PC/IP but 5 different addresses. Some addresses could do 2 orders. Some could only do 1. I think it’s because I maybe tried to use the same cc across accounts (my mistake.) Last time they used to cancel the orders after ordering but now, they seem to preemptively block you from even placing the order. I guess this is a good change? Maybe I’m out of BestBuy.com jail?
