Stop installing the C1 extension

I feel I need a page that links to all of my C1 shopping portal tips. Anyway, in today’s tip – stop installing the extension on new accounts. Why do I say this? Back in January, I had made a new account by creating a new Chrome profile. Then I browsed to a vendor and then a couple of days later, I got the axe. It was odd since I hadn’t even made any purchases on it. I then tried a few different tests – same PC but different IP, different browsers, using my phone to create the account, etc etc. I finally concluded that the extension was the culprit.

So if you’ve had the extension installed on older accounts, then you’re fine. But for some reason, when you create a new browser profile, make a new account and then install the extension, I think C1 is tracking your device ID/IP through the extension and they will give you the axe in a few days. Oddly they seem to be okay with the same IP addresses and you’d think they can capture your device ID by looking at your cookies, but for some reason, they DO NOT like it when a new account installs the extension. Hell, I vaguely remember logging into a newish account on my phone that had the C1 app installed and I’m pretty sure that’s what got the axe . My guess is that they are assuming you’re gaming the referral credits and so they are using the extension to detect you having duplicate accounts (instead of IP addresses.)

  1. So the trick is only using their shopping portal site with a fresh C1 account, and not adding the extension for some period of time.

I wonder what they would consider a fair time delay to avoid suspicion. This info is good for what not to do. So, thank you for the heads up!
