Disputing a charge on the Apple Card blocked it from Apple Pay

Last August, I had made a Doordash order and used Apple Pay to pay for the order. The order was cancelled and so Doordash gave me $45 credit into my account instead of a refund. I contacted them immediately and told them I wanted a refund instead. They sort of said “Yeah, give it a week and it’ll be refunded.” A week goes by and still no refund so I reach back out to them and they said something like, “Well it’s been over a week so we can’t refund you anymore.” Like WTF!?!

I was pissed off so I filed a dispute with the Apple card aka Goldman Sachs. I did the dispute over text messages and it seemed pretty easy to do. Months go by and I notice my Doordash account still has $45 and I never heard back from that dispute. But the worst part is that after I made the dispute, for some reason, I could never use the Apple Card on Apple Pay anymore. I tried to Google a fix, but it doesn’t seem like anyone has had this issue. However, I did find a bunch of other people who said disputes with Apple Pay is terrible.

My virtual card number works, but that’s only 1% cashback. The whole purpose of having the Apple Card is to use it on Apple Pay to get 2% cashback and I can’t even do that. If I can’t even do that, then the card is useless to me. It was never a good card to begin with anyway, so I may just cancel it. I wish Apple had picked a better banking partner like AMEX.

Addendum – As I was typing this post, I contacted the card again and it seems I won the chargeback. They said I got an email, but I swear I never saw it. It seems they may have just eaten it since I still have the $45 credit on Doordash. I also asked them about why my AP wasn’t working and they said there was a block on it and she’d unblock it. I’m too frustrated to find out WHY it was blocked in the first place when the card numbers work just fine. Anyway, if you can’t use your Apple Card in Apple Pay, it may be because you disputed a charge.
