There used to be a workaround where if you had a PNC bank product, they’d let you get their Visa card. I last got the card in Feb 2020 and closed it in Feb 2021. I tried to apply for one yesterday. The app went into review.
Later that day a lady called me to verify my ssn, dob, address, etc and asked if I applied for the card. She then asked if she could ask me 3 questions about myself – typical stuff like which of the following addresses are associated to you. Then asked my phone number to verify a code. After ALL that, she told me she’d deny the app unless I went in branch to verify myself.
I told her I got the card last year and if this was a change in policy. She said she couldn’t comment on that. I then told her, “Well next time just deny me instead of wasting both of our time with stupid questions.” Seriously.
