How I did on those Lizzo tickets this year

I first bought Lizzo tickets back in mid April 2019. Sure, you know who she is now, but at this time, she was relatively unknown. Her 3rd album had just come out and she didn’t even have a hit song on the Billboard top 100. Her hit “Truth Hurts” only debut at #50 a month later, thus buying her tickets in late April was a total gamble.

I first bought a pair for her Baltimore show on 4/19, held them for a month and listed them on 5/19 for an ROI of 115%. On 4/23 though, I bought 6 tickets to her Miami show that was going to happen in September at a cost of around $50 a ticket. I held these tickets all through the summer because I felt her stock was rising and only sold them around mid August for an ROI of 113%. I also bought some New Orleans tickets (smaller venue) and made 167%. Minneapolis netted me about 240% ROI. I bought some VIP Balcony tickets to her LA show – cost was $151 for the pair and I had a takehome of $1190 for a profit of $1039 and an ROI of 688%. I think this sale was my biggest all year. Then around late June, she announced a 2nd leg of her tour. I then bought Houston (122% ROI), Dallas (151%), and San Francisco 145% ROI.

Things weren’t all rosy though. You know how when you’ve gone on a hot gambling streak in Vegas and then decide to TREAT YO SELF to a nice dinner. Then instead of going straight back to your room, you’re walking past the blackjack tables and can’t help yourself and decide to sit down and play a few more hands and then proceed to lose? YUP, that’s exactly what happened! Tickets for her New Year’s Eve show in Vegas dropped in mid November. Everyone thought these would be a slam dunk; tickets were very hard to buy but they were expensive at $240 all in per ticket. My Spidey senses should have tingled and told me NOT to buy. However, I did buy some and proceeded to lose 47% on them. Luckily I knew they weren’t hot and decided to get out ASAP; a SH screenshot from morning of 12/30 below (people losing 80% here)

All in all, she netted me 122% ROI this year; 155% if you don’t count Las Vegas. Lesson Learned – just go back to your room and count your money.
