On Friday, there was a Reebok coupon glitch whereby you could take something like a ridiculous 80% off of sale items. There were 3 coupon codes that stacked that got you an order like above (those are 5 x Reebok Nano 8 shoes for a total price of $121, or $24 a shoe. Plus there was Rakuten 10% MR as well.
The deal eventually hit Slickdeals 2 hours later, but they didn’t maximize the deal. Usually with these coupon glitches, time is off the essence; you hope you can get an order in before they catch on and cancel all the orders. I actually placed 6 different orders:
- First order was for 1 pair of shoes just to test the water. This was eventually cancelled.
- Twenty minutes later, I got an order of 10 pairs of shoes in. I paid for expedited delivery in hopes they ship out quick. This too was eventually cancelled.
- Six minutes after that, I placed the order above with 5 shoes that eventually shipped.
- Twenty minutes after that, a 4th order of 4 different shoes. 1 shipped out and 3 cancelled.
- Ten minutes later, some apparel wear. Cancelled as well.
I didn’t list my 5 orders to brag. I list it because this isn’t the first time Reebok has had a coupon glitch. There was one a few months ago, whereby 1 person did get their orders through. There’s always a strategy with these types of deals – you can either do 1 massive order and hope it ships or you can do multiple smaller orders in hopes a few slip by. I think a few of my Slack members did get their shoes shipped, but I really don’t know if we were just lucky or maybe they just ran out of inventory on certain items (which would explain the 1 shoe that shipped out of the order of 4 shoes.)
Anyway, with these things, time is of the essence. If you were working or out and about, who’s going to notify you about a deal like this? That’s why I have a dedicated deals channel where I tell my users to keep notifications on. Join my private Slack group and you can be notified of deals like this in the future.
