Review – Tickets restaurant Barcelona, Spain

Introduction

Of all the restaurants on our European trip, my wife wanted to eat at Tickets (don’t ask me why.)  I didn’t learn until later that it’s #32 in the World.  Anyhow, let me tell you that getting a reservation is HARD.  They open reservations exactly 2 months out at midnight Barcelona time, which was good for me since I had to be ready at 3:00PM PST.  I had tried the day before to get tickets and saw that all reservations sold out within a minute.  Thus, on my last day, I had a few friends help me as well.  Only I was fast enough to get reservations at 7pm.  It’s crazy!

Experience

We walked to the restaurant from the Le Meridien, and it took about 20 minutes or so.  We got there at 7:00PM and saw 2 other groups waiting outside.  We were let in shortly after.  Our waiter gave us the menu, which had a lot of tapas on it.  I had read the recommended thing to do was to just let the waiter pick out the tapas for you and that’s what we did.  We also opted for the wine pairing as well.  After asking what foods we liked and disliked, the items started coming out.  Not all of the dishes were to my liking, but overall, I enjoyed the meal very much.  The couple next to us got different items at the beginning, but we eventually got the same items, so it’s definitely up to your server on what items and what order you will get it in.

Conclusion

For $360 all in for 2 people with wine pairing, I think it’s a great deal.  The restaurant is pretty “casual” so it’s not as uptight as your usual Michelin star restaurant.  Do I recommend it?  HIGHLY.  Would I go back?  I think I would.
