Review – Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

Introduction

I was on a weekend trip to Phoenix, and had that free Fairmont night certificate that was going to expire at the end of the month, so used it at this gorgeous property.  I also used the free suite upgrade certificate, and upon checkin, the rep asked me, “Did you use a free night reward certificate?  Lots of people have been coming in for 1 night due to that certificate.”  Well played fellow readers.

Experience

I had checked in for us in the afternoon, but we didn’t come back until very late at night, so didn’t have time to really enjoy the place.  We did wake up early and walked around the place for about 30 minutes.  All I have to say is – this place is MASSIVE!  There’s a golf course, something like 4 restaurants, and 6 HEATED POOLS (one pool area had beach chairs and sand too!)  I do regret not spending more time on the property.

One thing that did stand out was the super soft sheets.  I’ve slept on many hotel beds (even the Fairmont in San Francisco,) and these sheets were just the bee’s knees.  They also left 2 small water bottles and 2 pieces of chocolate during turndown service.  They had a Keurig machine and some pods, but yet no tea (people in Phoenix don’t drink tea?)

The only downside of the hotel was the $34 resort fees I had to pay on the award stay.

Conclusion

Would I LIKE to come back?  YES!  Would I realistically come back now that there’s no credit card affiliation?  Unfortunately, most likely not.

  1. I was there 2/15-2/17! What were your dates?? My general impression was that it was an enormous, blah resort in a beautiful part of Arizona. Our hike through the wild desert was sublime, the sunset the most impressive I’ve ever seen, and Taliesen West very much worth the time.
