Introduction
Went for a weekend getaway in Phoenix and realized I had a free IHG night that was expiring. Good thing Awardwallet told me or I would have totally forgot. What’s more interesting is how did I even get this cert when I was banned from Chase back in October 2016. Anyway, I’m not complaining for a free night. I initially was going to book the Sheraton PHX for 3K SPG a night, but used this one instead. I was coming in ass late and leaving early, so I just wanted an airport hotel.
Experience
We got in around 1AM, and even though the hotel was only 5 minutes away, for some reason, we had to wait 15 minutes. Yes I know there’s only 1 shuttle running at that time, but it was in the 50’s and we were tired and freezing (what’s the cold version of “hangry?”) Checking in also took a long time for no reason whatsoever either. The lady quipped “they didn’t set this up correctly…” even though I had no idea what she meant. To make matters worse, when I got into the room, I was expecting some free bottled water and it had nothing. The bed sheets were a bit stiff and the bed of course sunk you in. To further prove it wants to be wear the title of worse chain airport hotel, the blinds didn’t fully black out the sun in the morning and of course you could hear all the doors slamming in the morning.
Conclusion
If you don’t have a free night cert, stay at the Sheraton for 3K points instead.
