What happens when a ticket you’ve resold on Ticketmaster gets rescheduled

A few weeks ago, Justin Timberlake cancelled one of this concerts at Madison Square Garden.  I had sold 4 tickets to that show – 2 on TM and 2 on SH.  I had assumed my TM tickets were a lock and can’t be refunded.  I also was hoping the ones on SH would get cancelled out and I could re-sell those to get a higher profit.  A few days ago, I still hadn’t heard anything about the Stubhub tickets, but I got this email from Ticketmaster:

Attention ticket seller!
The event below is no longer happening as scheduled and we had to refund the buyer of your ticket(s) for order #xxxxxxxx because they can’t make the new date.

Justin Timberlake – The Man Of The Woods Tour – March 21, 2018
New date and time:  10/22/2018 8:00 PM
Madison Square Garden – New York, New York

What do you need to do?

Nothing at this time.  We will return the tickets you sold back to your original account on Ticketmaster and your card will be charged the amount we paid you for the sale of the ticket(s) for the event.

Can I get a refund or post my tickets for sale? Yes, you can either post the tickets for sale or seek a refund by clicking the Refund link on your order in My Account on your computer (you won’t see the link on your mobile device). If you purchased an upsell (i.e. parking) or paid a delivery fee for your tickets, please reply to this email and we will refund your entire order, including fees (except UPS or In Store Pickup if applicable) – it should post to your account in 7 – 10 business days.
If you need anything else, we’re always here for you – just hit reply and ask us or visit Ticketmaster.com!

Lessons Learned

Dangit, I thought I lucked out and would keep my TM profits and have my SH refunded.  Turns out my TM profit would be refunded and my SH loss would stick.  I’m going to reach out to SH to see if I can nullify my sale since “I can make the concert now that it’s been rescheduled.”  I still haven’t decided if I want to re-sell the new TM tickets or just refund them.
