The US Mint decreases order quantity on order confirmation

My buyer had wanted a very limited amount of the Gold High Relief coin, so I caught a restock of the coin when the household limit was lifted. I had put in an order of 4 really fast and then a minute later, put in an order of 2 coins. Then 16 minutes later when the order confirmations came in, my first order number only showed a quantity of 1 instead of 4 and then my 2nd order showed a quantity of 3 instead of 2. The order numbers from the MINT are in ascending order so it made no sense for my 2nd order of 2 to become an order of 3. It’s almost like it wasn’t even a ‘first in first out’ situation due to inventory levels. If they only had 4 left in stock, then why not keep my first order in tact at 4 and then cancel my 2nd order due to inventory? That would have made more sense. It’s just WILD that they would edit quantities in orders just haphazardly or almost in a LIFO situation.

But this is the US Mint we’re talking about, where they shipped two of you guys a silver proof set instead of the army coin.

Lesson learned – Just because you’ve put in a USMINT order quantity of X doesn’t mean you’ll actually get X. Keep an eye out for the order confirmations, and then even after that, hope they send you the right coins!

  1. On a related note, the Mint and its ordering system is beyond my understanding of how this place operates. They would probably not actually succeed if they were not held up by the Fed. Gov’t.

I placed two orders on Opening Day (08/20) for the recent ASE Privy – both are still processing!

The following day (08/21), I placed another order (after getting confirmation for a friend to ship it to their house) for a third coin/order. That coin has already shipped and was delivered yesterday (and I put in a request to Vinh for a shipping label last night)!

Hopefully the first two coins are shipped soon (i.e. TODAY) and I can begin to close out this recent Mint deal by the end of this week.

But yeah, the Mint and it’s ordering system have a lot to be left desired!

    1. It’s like they are procssing the orders randomly or even LIFO vs FIFO. Half of my lasers are unshipped and my poor buddy who waited in a 20 minute queue the first day still hasn’t his shipped yet although I put in one order 4 hours later and that one is in hand.

  2. Welp, both my American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin orders were just canceled.
Not telling what you’re gonna get, if anything, with these guys.
