Getting back in with Wells Fargo cc after the shutdown

I wrote back in November that Wells Fargo had shut down my personal credit card. I was worried they’d kill my entire relationship with them (checking and brokerage,) but shockingly I’m still alive. I had applied for a personal cc (Bilt I think) a few months ago, but was denied (forgot why; maybe too many inquiries – it wasn’t a ‘bad relationship’ rejection. Anyway last week I applied for the business Signify card. It went to pending and I assumed I was toast, but alas I was approved this morning.

So if you were axed back in November, know that you can get back in with at least a business cc; not sure about personal cc yet.

  1. My Bilt was shutdown in October of last year due to three accidental returned payments.
I had tried to pay off the account with a checking where the funds hadn’t settled yet.
All my other WF ccs are still open.

Others have reported similar WF shutdowns due to returned payments.
Hopefully I can eventually get the Bilt card again at some point.
