Back in November 2023, I did an AOR with BoA but made the mistake of dropping my Merrill card CL from $30K to $2K. At the time, I probably had <$10K in assets in their brokerage. They gave me about $5.5K of total CL in November (all in now about $7.5K personal and $25K business.) Frustrated with the low CL, I then moved about $100K into my personal checking account and about $150K into their brokerage account in December to let it marinate.
Fast forward to the end of March, I applied for their Premium Rewards Elite card, a TR card and an AS card. Only the PR card was approved for $10K. The other 2 were denied. This meant that the 2-3 months of marinating didn’t work. Either that or they didn’t like the spread out money. So after that, I moved the $100K of checking into their brokerage and now I’ll give it another 3 months before I try for more cards. The point is that even at 2 months with $250K, they didn’t really give me like the $30K CL that I was hopign for.
How long have you had an account(s) with BoA? Age of accounts seem to matter more to them than other banks. Currently have $0 in personal checking (relatively new account – opened for $200 bonus since I got tired of waiting for the $300 targeted offer). However, my first card was opened through them back in 1999. Currently have $56K CL spread over a few business cards and $25K spread over personal cards. Haven’t hit them hard (yet).
I did have trouble re-allocating/consolidating CL for a few of my AS biz cards when I went to close them. Cited “too much available credit” or something along those lines.
