On Saturday afternoon, right before 3PM PT, an Instacart glitch was discovered where everything at Lowe’s was showing 60% off in your cart. I was doing an MS run at the time and I couldn’t figure out what to buy at Lowe’s, so decided to pass on the deal but did let my Slack folks know. After an hour, someone told me to buy Fire sticks or Nest cams. I had sold Fire sticks in the past and I knew the margins were slim on such a low priced item to being with. However, the Nest cams were priced at $275 but after the deal, they’d be close to $100 after tax and fees.
So an hour after the deal went live, I was shocked that it was still working. I went ahead and ordered 3 Nest cams and 2 bubble wrap rolls, which I needed for reselling. I did the ‘priority’ option and even pre-tipped $25 just so I could get a shopper ASAP. Right after I submitted, I was notified my shopper was on the way to Lowe’s. Yada yada, an hour later, the shopper dropped off the 2 rolls of bubble wrap and 2 Nest cams because that’s all they had in stock at Lowe’s. I thought it was odd because I had chosen a Ring spotlight cam as a substitute, but she didn’t fulfill the 3rd cam.
Even with the Instacart fees, I think it’s a good deal. Surprisingly the deal lasted about 2 hours. I just wish I had cranked out the order at the beginning; I could have done 2-3 orders I think. Especially if I could create new Instacart accounts. The lesson learned here is – always be thinking about what you need/want from stores just in case a deal like this pops up again.
