Well sure enough, the rat came for P3 yesterday. I chatted with them and they said I lost 42K points. Sure enough, I looked on the account and I had done 21 x $2000.00 charges from May 27 to June 25 (statement closed on June 25.) Interestingly enough though, after I had heard about the first round of clawbacks back on June 21, some folks were saying that odd amounts (so charges not divisible by a GC or VGC) were not being clawed back. So for shits and giggles, on June 24th, I charged $2001.11, $2002.22 and $2003.33. And sure enough, those points were NOT clawed back.
So the lesson learned here is that rat seems to be doing a manual formula for finding these charges. So there’s an AMEX IT guy out there writing a SQL statement on peoples’ statements locating the number of charges divisible by $500 or $504.95 or $505.95, etc. It’s super low hanging fruit since they probably aren’t getting L3 data. What this means is that if you have to hit a high $10K spend SUB, you can do it by doing random amounts (of course the lower the better so if you can do lots of $462.37 or $446.36, then you’ll be safer than trying my crazy $2001.11 and $2002.22, etc.) Stay safe out there folks.
Hmm, interesting. Were those 21 charges on 21 different AU accts? Or why were you only MSing grocery at 1x multiples? I assume if this was for the 5x AU signup bonus they would have clawed those pts back too………although you also would have stopped charging at $25k spend, not $42k spend. Or are you simply flipping/reselling GCs and need to spend as much as you can regardless of the CC?
AU bonus and the bonus wasn’t clawed back
