The end of PS5 reselling

I can’t believe the PS5 was released back in November 2020 and was stil reselling for decent margins up until December 2022, so a full 2 years the system was in short supply. When it was first released, you could sell the Disk version close to $900 locally around that first Christmas. I remember many Facebook Marketplace accounts got blocked or flagged by haters. Even Offerup started to block listings due to haters flagging your post. Fast forward to December 2020, Walmart had a MASSIVE RESTOCK to where listings sat for a day or two. That was the first sign the game was over. Sure, you can probably still make a few bucks off desperate people, but it’ll take you a while to sell them. It was a good run while it lasted, so let’s pour one out for PS5 reselling:

  1. It’s been a hell of a ride. I’ve sold a few hundred, almost all local in-person. The good old days are finally over, but am still moving a few per week – there’s still money to be made on basic discs and digitals if they’ve been bought with discounted gift cards for Target, GameStop etc.
