Now that I had signed my mom up for Xfinity internet, it was time to take advantage of the Mobile $500 handheld promos. The deal supposedly ends 12/6, but in the past, they’ve extended it. Still better to do it today if you can. I chose the 13 Mini since it would just be $129 (excluding tax on $629) after the $500 promo. Unfortunately the phone is backordered until Dec 23, but so be it.
For the promo, you do need to port in a number. I fired up Gmail and got a new Google Voice phone number. I’ll have to pay $3 to Google to port out the number later, but that’s cheap enough. You will need a REAL phone number to generate a new Google Voice number, so have extra phone numbers handy or ask some friends and family. One cool thing that Xfinity Mobile added since last time is they now tell you how many lines and the amount of financing you can qualify for:
I was able to fire up 2 orders back to back but then got a weird error on the 3rd submission, which I later learned was due to a credit card error (zip code mismatch.) I then called in to place the 3rd order and the rep was having the same issue. Once we changed the credit card, she was able to order it. I then asked her to place a 4th order but while she was doing that, I went online to place the 5th, 6th and 7th orders with the new saved cc. After about 30 minutes, I received 4 emails asking for photo ID verification. I don’t blame them since it does look suspicious for someone to be firing up 7 new phone orders. And as I’m typing this up, I think I have room for an 8th Mini and a free Samsung A23. By that point, I’m maxed out on the amount of payment plans I can take out at 9. I may add a BYOD line as the tenth line for the free $100 gift card since it doesn’t cost me more incrementally each month, so pay $3 for Google Voice to earn $100.
Remember, if you choose DATA-BY-THE-LINE, then you pay $15 a month, regardless if you have 1 line or 10 lines. I had also forgotten about TCB mid-way through, so make sure you do that to get an extra $10.50 per line. Not sure what I’m going to do with 8 iphone 13 minis yet, but we’ll cross that bridge later. I’m surprised Xfinity hasn’t added a $5 or even a $15 per month line charge to use the shared data plans, so take advantage before they change their minds.
So what does this all net down to? $5.15*24 + $6.30 = $129.9 per 13mini plus another $15*24 = ($360) split over all the phones for the DATA-BY-THE-LINE?
If you can’t flip the phones without losing the credit, where does this really get you?
You can flip the phones whenever you want; I did that last time with the SE’s.
