I have had 2 Discover cards (IT and Miles) collecting dust for the past year. Figured it was time to churn them. I cancelled the IT card (only $3K CL) and kept the Miles card (17K CL.) Discover sent out an email whereby if you refered someone, you both get $100 on signup. Since P2 didn’t have a Miles card and so couldn’t refer me, I figured well let me try to refer myself and see what happens.
Fast forward a week. I get the new card in, activate it and put it to use. A few days later I see this online:
Odd that the referring account hasn’t gotten the $100 yet. Maybe it has to wait a bit. Either way, I was going to get the Miles card anyway, so $100 freebie is nice.
Also, I tried to call Discover as soon as I was approved for the 2nd card and asked for a CL reallocation; they then tried to request the CL increase (necessary step for a reallocation,) but it was denied (not sufficient time with credit card or something to that nature.) I guess I’ll try again at the 3 month mark to do the reallocation again.
