A Slack member told us that he had returned an XBOX S back to Amazon after the XMAS holidays. He had bought a number of them and wasn’t keeping track of which one was bought where, so he just grabbed a random XBOX and sent it back to Amazon. Amazon received it in and said that because the serial number didn’t match the order, he wasn’t going to get refunded. And to add insult to injury, they weren’t going to send back his XBOX either. JUST WILD!
Amazon used to be very consumer-friendly, but they are definitely tightening things up these days. I mean sure, he sent in the wrong XBOX, but I know Best Buy will at least send back your shit.
So what do they do with the unit they sold ? resell it ?
If this was a 3rd party seller AZ would require the seller to refund even if serials don’t match. Sometimes they just suck the funds out of the seller’s account once the item is shipped/delivered. If they can make a customer happy by sticking it to a 3rd party seller they will do it every time.
Not refunding OR returning? Sounds pretty much like THEFT to me. Make a police report.
Sounds like they have not followed up properly with Amazon as of the mentioning it. I expect this will end on a better note. If it happened to me I would be getting the unit back if not a refund by the time it was over. Worst case, they charge me return shipping. to return it to me and I return the correct one if I had it still.
Good to know Amazon records serials though. It should also be on the invoice to match it up if this is the case.
