I had written about H&M designer collaborations in the past like the Moschino one. Well for 2019, they partnered with Giambattista Valli (a name that most people have never heard of, myself included.) However, this collaboration had one thing going for it – Kendall Jenner:
The collaboration dropped at I want to say 5AM PST back in May. The web site was flaky once again, but I was able to score the coveted Kendall dress for $399+tax. There were very few listings and sales on Ebay, and I had to wait for a buyer who wore the size I bought. Immediately they were going for $800 or so. I wanted to wait a bit so I held onto the dress…for too long.
You see, H&M only released half the collaboration in May. The second half happened about a month ago. Luckily, they didn’t restock that exact dress else I would have been in trouble. A few weeks later, I was finally able to sell the dress for a $500 profit or so. Not too shabby.
Not everything is rosy though; I write about the dress win, but I bought some sweatshirts and necklaces that aren’t doing so well that I’ll be around break even if I’m lucky. Lesson learned – stick with the hot items and don’t get cute with accessories.
