With that lineup, I thought it’d be a slam dunk. I even got some great seats – 100 level mid-field for about $120 a ticket. It took nearly 3 weeks to sell them (a bad sign) because I eventually had to sell them at a range of -20% to -60%, with the average coming out at -40%. Even now, I’m not quite sure what went wrong. Maybe capacity – 27K… maybe location (Carson, CA but that’s south of LA)… or what I’ve been in denial of – that Taylor has lost her star power.
She had posted on FB that she was streaming the show live, and so I immediately watched it (this was around 10PM on a Saturday night.) At most, the stream topped out at 22K users. I don’t know how many streamed Coachella, but 22K sounded low; maybe because no one knew she was going to live stream it. She played about 5-6 big hits. I thought the show was OKAY. She was no #Beychella or #Arichella.
I guess the main lesson learned here is – for her next tour, just buy tickets second hand.
