Last night, Tesla revealed the Model Y in an unnecessarily long live stream. However, it didn’t stop me from drinking the Kool-Aid. During the reveal, I was pretty unimpressed with the car just because Elon spent like 2 minutes talking about the car and over 30 minutes talking about everything else. However, a few friends started pre-ordering the car and I somehow got peer pressured into reserving mine too. Why? Because I really do love my model 3. I’ve been meaning to write a followup post on it and will probably do it soon. Spoiler alert – the wife is supposed to be driving it, but I’ve been driving it. So I think I’ll give the Y to the wife to drive and sell our crappy Infinity SUV. I was planning on keeping 1 gas SUV for long road trips, but with the updated faster Supercharging speeds, there’s no need to keep it around anymore, especially when 98% of the time, it’s a commuter car for my wife. I was also a fan of the price point (basically the same price as the 3 when I ordered it.) That was really what sold me more than anything else. I did go with AWD in this one while the 3 was RWD.
Worst case, in 6-12 months, I can cancel the Y and get a a refund check back (not the best way to MS due to no interest earned on your money.)
