I’ve resold the last 2 iPhone releases with the last being the iPhone X, but I don’t plan on selling the new iPhone Xs. In the reselling game, sometimes choosing NOT to resell something is just as big a win as successfully reselling something. While I’ll probably upgrade my Watch 3 to the Watch 4, I don’t think there’s enough reason for me to upgrade to the Xs. I’ve gotten used to the smaller size of the X and not sure if I want to go back to the “plus” sized models. A few other reasons why I don’t plan on reselling these.
The X had a supply constraint due to the OLED screen. I don’t think we’ll see any shortages in the Xs. Margins were thin enough as is on the X, and some of you even returned yours since prices tanked.
It seems Apple is releasing phones faster internationally. In the past, the US may get the newest phone months before other countries got it.
The Chinese version of the phone has dual sim slots, which is more attractive than the esim version of the US variants. This means less demand from Chinese consumers for the ones I’d want to flip.
As a consumer, I’m skipping this version. As a reseller, I’m skipping. As an investor, I’m actually happy – I think the dual sims will drive incremental sales.
Who cares about dual SIMs? It’s been a feature on other flagships for years.
Apple customers who want dual sims.
Thanks for your post. Reselling is YMMV. Most of the winners are posted and well publicized. Do you have any stories of resells with losses?
Yes, see my concert ticket losses like Taylor Swift, etc.
The old triple threat. Consumer, re-seller, and shareholder.
Also with the X, you had to pick it up in store as they didn’t have enough to ship. This one can be shipped to arrive on release day if someone really wants it.
And with 2 sizes x 3 colors x 3 storage options = 18 versions to worry about matching with potential buyers.
Couldn’t agree more on the investor side. Cheers!
