Yesterday, I wrote about how I gave away some Marron 5 tickets. Today, I’ll write about how it all went down. I had bought these tickets back in October 2017. Way before I learned my lessons from Jack White and Haim. At the time, I thought, “Oh, I recognize Maroon 5. Let me gamble on this.” Instead of being smart and only buying a pair to test out the waters, I went HARD and bought 14 tickets. Yes, I was that stupid. Don’t do that. Especially when it was probably only a 3 on the risk/reward scale. And I didn’t even buy pit or floor seats. I think I got cute and got the best cheap seats. I bought 8 tickets in 19A and 6 tickets in 5B. Cost was about $85 a ticket or so, so I spent $1040 all in.
Selling the tickets
I listed these on SH the same day and that’s where they sat for the longest time. Eventually, I sold all but 2 of the tickets for $450. Would probably have been $500 with the last pair, thus I lost $550 (-57% ROI.) What made it worse is that they played at the Tacoma Dome and even my friends didn’t want to drive that far. I probably would have gone if it was at the Key Arena in Seattle.
Lesson Learned
Similar to Jack White and Haim, don’t get cute. Or if you do try to get cute, I think GA PIT would have been a money maker. And don’t be stupid and go hard on a risk/reward 3.
