Reader story – How the police asked if I was a terrorist for MS’ing

Introduction

One of my very first readers who emailed me about unicorns, before I was sorta put on the map with the AMEX 150K offer, shared this video with a small group of us back in August 2015, way before Tahsir’s police story.  He’s asked me not to share the video so I will respect his wishes, but he’s okay with me transcribing it for you.  I was never going to post it, but with all the shit that’s been happening lately, I felt it was a good opportunity.  For some background, this reader is a pretty heavy hitter and lives in a small-ish town.  He was making his runs and when he left the Family Dollar parking lot, he was approached by a police officer in the parking lot.  He then whipped out his phone and pretending to be texting, recorded the situation.

Reader – If you’re holding me, I’d like to..

Police – (interrupting) I’m not holding you…

Reader – Then I’d like to leave… unless you’re gonna tell me….

Police – (points to second cop car approaching) He’s laughing at you.  (off camera) I’m not holding you…

Second police man steps out of car smiling

Reader – (recognizing the 2nd policeman) – Did you come over to shake my hand?

The reader and 2nd policeman shakes hands.

P2 – Listen…uhh..are you the one that’s been going in there…

Reader – In where?

P2 – In Family Dollar…getting the..uhhh…

Reader – Loading my Serve card?

P2 – Yeah, it’s been raising some red flags with these people in here…

Reader – What people?

P2 – In Family Dollar

Reader – About me loading…?

P2 – (shakes head) Yeah…it’s not common…yeah…for you know…it’s all good (smiling)…   We just wanted to make sure you weren’t like some terrorist that was you know…

Reader – It’s all legal…

P1 – See, I told you I wasn’t holding you…

Reader – That’s what I was saying… was I under suspicion of illegal activity?

P2 – Well…technically [not] but…I know you so we’re good… so don’t worry about it man…

Reader – Alright.

P2 – Good seeing ya’ll.

Lessons Learned

So as luck would have it, the second police offer was actually the reader’s cousin!  Else, we both think it would have been a different story.  Most likely with him answering a whole lot more questions.  What have we learned?  Don’t MS in small towns?  Make sure you have friends and family in blue?  Make sure you can record video of the police in your city/state? Haha I don’t know.  Just remember, “If you’re not shut down or haven’t been approached by the police, then you’re not hitting it hard enough!”  Stay safe out there boys and girls!
