Other sites’ reader questions answered

Introduction

This post is EXACTLY what you think it’s going to be.  I got this idea from either GQ or Esquire where they try to answer reader questions from Cosmo and Vogue.  Hilarious.  Anyway, this post is made in jest!  Don’t take this seriously, especially if you are the blog owner!  And no, I’m not turning into TBB and no, this is the last time I’ll be doing this in the foreseeable future.

MMS reader Ali asks “Which is the best credit card for airport parking?”

This is actually a question that I’ve never asked myself!  Most people would ask, “What is the cheapest airport parking at [insert airport?]  And since each airport is different, I can’t tell you every single airport.  Some tips – look for a Groupon deal first.   Or even try gift cards sold at Costco/Sam’s – usually up to 20% off.   If that doesn’t work, try airportparking.com.  Or try taking an Uber to the airport.  Better yet, ask your friend to drop you off.  Don’t have friends, then okay, fine!  Use your stupid CSP!

MMS reader Ryan asks “I’m making a $5,500 purchase soon. Which credit card should I sign-up for to get the best deal?”

Awww Ryan, are you buying a used Birkin bag for your wife?  Did you just listen to this Planet Money podcast?  Hey I don’t blame you.  Ryan has stumbled onto the next big MS idea!  These Birkin bags are actually a better investment than gold or stocks!  Instead of signing up for 1 card Ryan, may I suggest you sign up for 4 Bank of America Alaska Visa cards on the same day, blog about it, and ruin it all for the rest of us.

TPG reader Irka asks, “When should I pay cash or redeem points?”

Are you kidding me Irka?!?!  Who do you think you are asking?  THE POINTS GUY!  Of course he’s going to say POINTS!  That was a slam dunk answer if there ever was one.

Lucky wants me to ask myself, “Should I buy American Miles Pre-Devaluation?”

I don’t know about you guys, but I lay awake every night pondering a similar question – how can I pay $2 for something that is worth less than $2?  Hmmm… what can I buy that will DEVALUE on me the longer I hold it?  Hmmm… is there a web site out there that tells me what credit cards I can sign up for instead to earn these miles instead of wasting my hard earned money?  Hmmmmhhhhmmmm…if only such a web site existed….. maybe I should create one myself…

Lucky also asks himself, “Why did I turn down *really* cheap points?”

Why I also don’t go around picking up pennies on the street.  Just not worth my time to bend down and pick it up.  But when you’re a small time blogger with no credit card affiliates, then you do it.

RP reader Erik asks, “When and if you should cancel a travel credit card?”

“Erik, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Chase frowns on credit card affiliates from talking about cancelling Chase credit cards, but AMEX’s value is so awesome that you should sign up and pay for it every year.   Oh wait, do I have any Chase affiliate links?  What’s that to the right side of the screen?  Oh, they are all AMEX cards?  Hmmm, I didn’t notice that.  Oh wait, what was your question?”

Holly from FTG asks, “What should I do with my 100,000 TYP?”

Holly, congrats on accumulating 100,000 TYP through all those Citi Premier and Prestige cc’s that you plaster all over the site.  I ask myself these same questions too.  No, really I do.  It’s why I stopped MS’ing on my Citi ATT card.  Have you not read MileValue’s Three Best Uses of 100,000 TYP?  Tsk, tsk.  I’m pretty sure you didn’t click on his Citi affiliate link.  Anyway, the obvious answer is to transfer them out before Citi shuts you down!  Have you not heard about that news either?  You know what though, I think I’ll go in a different way with my 100K TYP.  I’m going to redeem TYP at Amazon and buy 100,000 TYP worth of this fake money and then post a picture of me like this:
