Reselling my Sears 2015 4th quarter VIP benefit

Introduction

Another quarter, another SEARS PLATINUM VIP benefit.  Once again, I went with the 100% SYYR back Kitchenaid mixer.  I had picked the same item last quarter.  However, I was too lazy to sell it, so I figured I may as well sell them both at the same time.  Here’s my Sears receipt:

Craigslist Route

Initially, I was going to eBay or FBA this, but one of my reselling buddies told me that he sold a similar item on Craiglist.  I may have once considered selling kitchen items on CL in the past, but maybe it was due to a lack of interest that I stopped.  However, I figured it wouldn’t hurt if I listed it anyway.  I decided to list it for $200 since these were going for about $250 on eBay.  I figure with $30 eBay/PP fees and probably $20 to ship, I’m breaking even, but at least now I have nearly ZERO return risk and ZERO chance of chargebacks.

Conclusion

Well, it took about 3 days for me to get my first email, and that person is supposed to pick it up today (would have been last week, but I was out of town.)  Then today, I got a 2nd hit from someone else.  I told them that the white one that I listed was already reserved, but I had a red one available.  Yada, yada, I sold it for $200.  As for the SYYR points, I’m still looking at a way to get at least 100% value back on Sears, but as BigHabitat can attest, it’s not easy.  Either way, if I can keep making $200 per quarter for being a Sears PLATINUM member, then I’m surely going to keep looking for deals at Sears.  I’m also now going to list more big bulky household items on CL too (XMAS is coming soon remember).

    1. According to Sears website, you spend $10k or more. If you Google Sears platinum vip, you’ll find a nice PDF that explains all the different levels and benefits.

  1. I got the mixer on my wifes account and I went with the $500 work bench on mine lol, 75% back in points, and the cashback paid for the 25% that came out of pocket.
