Last week, I wrote about how I got a Paypal chargeback after 18 months for a digital item I sold. If you’ve ever dealt with Paypal chargeback disputes, you know my chances of winning that was the same chance as that Green Bay/Seahawks hail mary pass (you know the one.) And so I got this in email yesterday:
Well look at that, someone at Paypal actually used some common sense! This was intriguing though because this meant that the buyer filed a chargeback with Paypal instead of his credit card. I thought Paypal only let you dispute up to 6 months but clearly that’s not the case. I have a feeling his next move is to dispute with his cc (if they let him).
I’ve had that happen when I was selling iTunes cards, and I would comment on the chargeback, “C’MON PAYPAL, THIS IS DOUBLE JEOPARDY!” which clearly it wasn’t, but I still won most of those. Or if I lost them, Paypal would give me a “one-time credit” for the chargeback. By the way, if you do lose a credit card chargeback, Paypal hits you with something like a $25 charge, so you had better have hard evidence ready to win those chargebacks!
Congrats!
