This ends the week of off-topic posts. I’ll get back to MS type posts starting next week. I’ll also put up my trip itineraries from my Hong Kong, South Africa, and Dubai trip as well.
Lastly, for next week, I want to test out RSS summary posts instead of full posts in email. I want to see if it increases interaction in posts and what happens to page views. It’ll return to normal after that, and then decide how I want to proceed in the future.
My beef with truncated RSS is that I save a lot of stuff for reading on the plane. I may go back when online to read an article, but most just get deleted.
I know. I have 3 months worth of OMaT and VFW that I need to read, but can’t read them from the airplane. I think it’s just because there are 4-5 posts per email. Hopefully 1 post per email gets people to click through more. We’ll see.
I think it’ll definitely increase your click rate since people can’t read your posts unless they click, so naturally your click rate can only go up. 😉 I’ll still read, but like Biggles209, I definitely value full-text RSS especially for times when I don’t have wifi connection; it’s annoying to keep marking items unread to come back to later b/c I can’t read the whole thing now…when I do that, it might be weeks or possibly a month before I actually try to decrease my unread count. 😛 There are some apps (Newsify, Lire…so far I’m really liking Lire for OMaT etc) that try to pull full-text even if truncated, but it’s not always reliable.
Noooooo I hate truncated RSS! I have a folder in my Feedly for “Travel – not full text” and I go to that folder last after reading all the full text ones.
Well hopefully my content is worth a click. This’ll just be a 1 week experiment. It’s not permanent.
Of course you’re worth a click 🙂
