My last credit card for 2014 and a recap of 2014

I was hesitant in applying for this card since like I said before, I’ve had so many hits on my credit report this year and my score is currently hovering around 720.  However, in 2015, Barclays will no longer be able to accept new applications once US Airways and American Airlines merges and Citi owns the credit card relationship.  Therefore, whatever Us Airways miles you get now will convert to AA miles next year.  I’m not exactly sure when Barclays will stop taking applications, but in case it’s 1/1/15, I decided to just go ahead and apply for the card.  The current offer is 50,000 US Airways miles.  The annual fee is NOT waived, but 50K miles is easily worth $89.  I had the card previously in October 2012 to April 2014, and from what I’ve read the card is somewhat ‘churnable,’ but it’s best not to have the card currently.  I also read Barclays pulls from Transunion while the other major banks like AMEX, Citi, and Chase pull from Experian.  Therefore, I was fine with a TU hit on my credit report.  Btw, I also currently have the Arrival card (my only current Barclays product.)

I used http://frequentmiler.boardingarea.com/2014/12/04/us-airways-60k-ish-offer/ to get the offer and to give Greg referral credit.  Anyway, I was immediately approved with a 15K credit line.  Sweet!  I then applied for my wife who got a ‘reviewing your application’ status, which is odd since she barely has any credit cards.  Even though I used incognito mode, maybe they didn’t like back-to-back applications from the same IP address.  Anyhow, I’ll have my wife call in to see what happened.

By the way, here are all the credit cards I applied for in 2014.  I was approved for all but 1 card.

    1. The Citi AA Exec card was the only Citi card that they gave out like candy. You could get it over and over as long as you followed the rules of 1 app every 8 days and no more than 2 every 60 days. I stopped when they lowered the offer to just 50K. You should get the Barclay’s now though.
