How you could have scaled up that MINT deal

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you heard about that MINT coin deal yesterday on numerous blogs.  I know a lot of people who only bought 1 coin, and I’m not sure why they didn’t buy more.  Maybe I’ve been in the game for too long, but these days, I like to focus on big deals and hit them hard versus doing numerous little deals (also why I stopped doing GC flipping.)  Thus, a deal for ~$1400 of spend and some cash sounded like a great deal that I wanted to hit hard.  Here’s some tips on how you could have scaled up too:

  1. Ask your friends to buy it. I asked some close friends, and none bought.  I guess people don’t appreciate $1400 of free spend and some side cash.
  2. Ask your coworkers to buy it.
  3. Ask your family to buy it.
  4. Once you’ve exhausted those options, sometimes you gotta do things yourself.  That’s why you get a mailbox.  Yes, the MINT will ship to a mailbox.  Now how do you get a credit card address to match?  Well, you all have AMEX business cards right?  If you add an authorized user, then you can set your address to the mailbox’s address.  Since it’s a business card, this shouldn’t affect your credit report at all.
  5. Ship to your friend’s house since they are too lazy/don’t trust your shenanigans.  How do you do this?  Re-read number 4.  The great thing about this option is there are no monthly fees!  Just make sure you tell them what all is coming to their house.

Now you have no excuse on not going HARDER the next time a ‘1 household’ deal comes around.

  1. Interesting post.
    Q) How can you order more than 1 in such a short amount of time? Even if you have multiple addresses, how do you make multiple orders from the same computer?

  2. I’m confused. Your comment about asking your friends – “I guess people don’t appreciate $1400 of free spend and some side cash” – doesn’t make sense if you are the one scaling up the deal. If they are getting the spend and the cash – how is it benefiting you?

  3. meh…is it really worth the trouble especially when you will need more hands on to complete the deal within like 30 seconds.

      1. And the value of your time. It’s all about opportunity cost. With young kids I’m more concerned with finding the low hanging fruit than I am the extra income.

I think your post has great value for some people and overall it’s a good one, it’s just not for everyone.

          1. I hear ya especially if you have bots and you did the “other” deal that paid out more $100-$400 (YMMV) but other than that…..US Mint’s website can be much of a headache for just one go around….trying to do more without bots is a journey to Dante’s inferno…lol
