C1 portal axing accounts that were already dead

I got this email this morning and let me tell you, this put me in a bad mood for a few hours. I also thought this was karma from yesterday’s post. When I finally dug into the accounts that got these emails, it turns out these accounts were already dead. They died 6 months ago because they had ghost redemptions. I had logged into them a few days ago for shits and giggles just to see if I could redeem the cb but got the same ghost redemptions. That may have triggered their system to put the final nail in the coffin on these accounts.

At first I thought it was due to the increased ramp in usage on those accounts but that wasn’t the reason because a lot more accounts would have died. I also thought it was due to them somehow linking the accounts or seeing what I was buying for reselling, but that also doesn’t seem to be the case. And they don’t seem to be IP linking either.

Mainly the lesson learned here is to not keep any pending rewards on your C1 account. As soon as you can redeem it for a GC, do so ASAP.
