Walmart cancelled order, didn’t refund gift card

It’s rare, but I think this has happened twice to me ever at Walmart.com. Basically you used some gift cards to buy an item and the order is cancelled. Walmart should refund the balance back to the gift card, but after a few days, the balance is still $0. At first I contacted the main phone number and after a few minutes of them saying, “Oh your payment has been refunded” and me telling them, “The gift cards have not been refunded!” and then them escalating the issue, the issue still wasn’t resolved. Eventually I called back and after 15 minutes, first line transferred me to the gift card division who was able to pull up the order and see “Refund failed” status. The lady then called someone on the backend who verified that yes the refund failed, but since it was the weekend, he said it’d be resolved by Monday or Tuesday. Don’t ask me why he couldn’t do it IMMEDIATELY since the issue was right there and the solution seemed simple enough.

Anyway, if you’re in my predicament, skip the first line of CS and call 800-421-1362 instead. Dont ask me why big ass Walmart doesn’t run a batch file at nights and see when refunds fail and to manually fix. As of this blog post, I still don’t have the refund, but hopefully by Tuesday I’ll have it.

  1. I also had to call once last year, but since then I noticed a dark blue Walmart Refund card in the wallet. I thought maybe it could show up there when something goes wrong,
