Randomly saw a post in the Seattle Rivian Owners Facebook group that PSE now has time of use rates. Currently, everyone pays about 0.11 per kWh for the first 600 kWh and then it goes up to 0.135 per kWh after that. Now they have their TOU pilot program. I think they have different rates/programs but I was put into schedule 307. Here’s what it looks like for me.
Since we have 2 EV’s at home and that consumes the most electricity, I decided to switch over to TOU. There was no waiting period. I had enrolled in early December and they said that in January, I’d switch over. They also have a calculator that tells you if you’d be saving money with TOU or not. I’m sure we will since I’d be charging the cars at night at the $.06 rate. I also have programmed the thermostat to be off during the peak times and have told the wife to not run the laundry or dishwasher during peak times. It should be interesting to see how much we save with this program.
