Incomm now has an $8.95 Visa gift card

My local Safeway received a box from Incomm with some gift cards into it. The cashier pulled these out and showed them to me. WOW! Now it’s an $8.95 fee for a $500 VGC. Remember that they raised it from $5.95 to $7.95 back in November. I guess they’ll keep raising it up until sales drop off. Luckily the store still had a crap ton of the $7.95 MGC on the racks. Not sure if they will be replaced with these $8.95 fees going forward.

  1. @NVTech – did you register the card with a name and address? If not, you won’t be able to use it online anywhere. The card authorization will fail because there’s no address registered.

  2. I accidentally got one of these from a CVS…and I am having so hard time to use it anywhere..
Did not work on Amazon…Ebay…Did not work in my county property tax payment…Never again I will buy this kind of card…no matter what promotion.

Can you please advise what are my avenues to use this card and get rid of it.

    1. if your utilities have a 3rd party payment system online, it may work there, otherwise what will work is swiping in stores. These have become horrendous to use since they nerfed being able to register an address for online use. I bet they still say you can use them online on the packaging which is pretty much a blatant lie nowadays…

    2. Not online shopping.

Paying medical bills (the amount more than the co-pay) worked in the past.

      Obviously in-person in stores.

    3. Visa Gift cards from almost every issuer has so many restrictions in draining. Probably will end up just having to use it organically.

  3. All my local CVS and local grocers has these from Nov month itself , along with 7.95 mastercards.

These 8.95 visas are issued by Sutton where 7.95 by pathward. As of now 7.95 card works with in Walmart and all other stores.

  4. These cards have existed since the $7.95 variety came out. They have sat next $7.95 cards all along. I guess this is Incomm hoping someone get suckered into paying an extra dollar by not noticing.

Before November, there were always a handful of $6.95 cards next to $5.95 cards. This is basically the same thing.

TLDR: I don’t think the $8.95 will replace the $7.95.
