You don’t need a phone number when creating a new Uber Eats account now

I don’t know when Uber/Uber Eats made this change but years ago, the ONLY way to create a new account was to enter in your phone number. There was no option to create an account with email. It then got annoying if you no longer had access to that phone number and you forgot to do 2FA. Just a clusterfuck.

Well last night, I was able to create a new Uber account with just my email. It asked for a phone, but I was able to push skip on that screen. I went ahead and attempted to create a delivery order. I got to the last screen of ‘place order’ which I assume would have placed my order w/o ever needing a phone number.

Why is this important you ask? Well if you have a lot of CLEAR Uber credits, you know the ones where you can’t add more than 1 of the same expiration voucher to the same Uber account, then this is huge because now you can easily spin up new Uber Eats accounts w/o needing a unique phone number. Also pro-tip, when you create a new Uber Eats account, let it sit idle for about a few weeks and Uber should send you like a $20 off $20 your first 2 orders. So it almost behooves you to create new Uber Eats accounts per voucher just for the coupon. Also do the free 30 day trial of Uber One and then sock drawer that account away forever.
