I was influenced after seeing a few TikTok’s about the Meta Rayban smart glasses. You can view the quality and some sample videos here.
I think before buying the glasses you need to think of some real life use cases for yourself. Here are some examples:
- Tiktok influencer
- Travel videos (when you don’t want to take out your phone to record)
- If you have an infant and you want to record clips without having phone ready
- Recording reselling meetups just in case
- Making cooking videos (where you need 2 hands)
- Works as hands free headset (better than AirPods in ear)
- Decent music player
- Those are just a few examples. I’m sure you can think of more.
I’ve had them for a few weeks now and so far I really like them. Pictures are a tad slow to take (takes about 2-3 seconds) so you have to stand still or the pic will be blurry. I don’t use the pictures much. The videos last a minute and are better than expected (see link earlier.) The battery lasts about 4 hours. The case then charges it 4-5 more times before you need to charge the case. I got the one with the transition lenses so I could use them as sunglasses as well as just being clear indoors. So far I don’t think the lens in sun is better than a polarized lens. That’s probably the only knock.
How often do I wear them? Not daily, especially in cloudy Seattle. But I do wear them out on a sunny day as sunglasses. I can see myself wearing them when traveling. I can see myself listening to music on the plane with them. I think it’ll get more usage than the Meta Quest headset.
