Replacing my kitchen faucet

About a month ago, my kitchen faucet (similar to above) pull down sprayer sprung a leak in the wiring. I tried to duct tape it back, but that didn’t do anything. I didn’t realize it at the time, but it was a Moen faucet with a lifetime warranty, so I eventually called them and they sent me a replacement hose free of charge.

I don’t keep up with kitchen faucet technology because why would I if my kitchen faucet works. I asked around and got recommended this fancy looking touchless faucet.

I went ahead and bought a used one for about $220 from an FBA guy. I opened the box when it came in and it turned out to be THE WRONG FAUCET (ironically, it was similar to my old faucet.) I immediately returned it and found an Amazon used one for $240. When that one arrived, it was essentially a brand new faucet.

The installation took about an hour with the help of my buddy, but it wasn’t hard at all. The most difficult part was trying to remove the old faucet in the narrow space between the sink and the wall. I had no idea this existed and wish I had it handy. Usually I Youtube how to do fix stuff, but the instructions on the new faucet helped me figure out how to remove the old faucet – it’s essentially 2 water hoses and then one nut that holds the faucet to the countertop.

It’s been a few weeks now with the new faucet and I think it’s great. I usually use the hand motion to turn on and off the water vs the handle. I do have to adjust the handle sometimes if the water is too hot/cold. Anyway, if you want to upgrade your kitchen faucet, I’d recommend the Moen faucet that I got above.

  1. I didn’t realize it was a Moen until I was mid way through of replacing it. Regardless, I did want a new look.

  2. I just went through this myself 2 weeks ago (1 kitchen faucet and 2 bathroom faucets). Decided to buy Moen just for the lifetime free replacement. Question though: Why did you buy a new faucet if Moen sent you the new replacement hose free of charge? Seems to defeat the purpose of the lifetime warranty unless you are just aiming for a new look for your kitchen.
