It’s been 2 years with that Xfinity Mobile deal

For the folks who did that Xfinity deal from 2 years ago, well our devices are fully paid off now. You can check on this URL. So what now? A few days ago, I chatted with them to have all 7 of my phones unlocked. It seems if you kept the phones brand new in box, you can get about~$225 on Ebay per phone.

There was one phone number that I wanted to keep, so I’m in the process of porting it to voip.ms (they confirmed it’s free to port in and free to port out; I think there’s a monthly $.80 charge or so to park the number, so no big deal) Once that number is ported out, I’m going to close out the Xfinity account and wait for the next deal this December and start it all over again. I don’t know how long I have to be a non-customer to be qualified as a ‘new customer’ again, but we’ll cross that bridge later.

I also plan on cancelling my Comcast internet line. Since I currently have 2 internet lines at the house and my last 3 calls to retention to threaten to cancel have gotten me nowhere, I’m just going to cancel that for a month or however long before I come back as a “new subscriber” with both internet and mobile.

  1. From personal experience I’m able to sign up for internet as new customer the same day as it is cancelled. I don’t bother with calling anymore or alternating mine and P2 name on the bill. I just change my email address.

  2. I think I learned this one from you years ago, but every time Xfinity tries raising me internet charge because “that promotion is over, sir”. I ask how to lower the bill and as soon as they offer a bundle, I say no, file a complaint with the FCC and then within days, magic. I get a personal phone call from Xfinity and we work out a nice deal that keeps my cost the same, or damn near it.

Haven’t had to do it for a couple years though so guessing that it would still work.
