I wrote a couple of months ago that Discover had shut me down , but it turns out they didn’t. I might have been looking at the closed cards in the app, but I could have sworn it was closed because I saw a credit line but charges didn’t work. Maybe they put me in a timeout like Bank of America did when I was cycling hard.
Anyway “back in the day” Discover would let you request a credit line increase at 3 months. I had gotten the 3 month Discover match update email so thought I was good to go. I called in to do the credit limit reallocation (only can do it if the card has the ability to increase credit limit.) The rep tried it and said I was denied. She said I’d get a letter in mail later explaining why I was denied. A week later I got the letter and the reason was “Insufficient experience with current card limit” which I’m guessing means 90 days isn’t enough time. I guess I’ll call back at 6 months and see what happens.
Was this a new card with them? They changed the rules a while ago.
