I guess the rule of thumb these days seem to be that Amex will let you have 10 charge cards (possibly 11.) Well yesterday I wasn’t sure how many cards I had and tried to apply for a business gold card and I was instantly approved. After doing so I checked my current cards – 8 vanilla Plats, Schwab plat, Morgan plat and a business Plat. So yea that’s 11 cards. And fwiw I also have 4 credit cards now too (2 BBP, Hilton and EDP.)
Think I’ll try for my 5th cc shortly since I’ve maxed out the 2 BBPs for the year and Amex won’t give me any 99 AU offers.
How are you not getting the pop up of death? I did the Hilton churn to get lifetime diamond status when they offered it two years ago (did about 20k in gift card purchases at supermarkets and ended up getting burned and points taken back) and now every new amex card I apply for I get the pop up… I am a good organic spender with 10-20k per month across all cards, yet I can’t get any new bonuses ever…
Do tell more about the 8 Vanilla Plats – w.r.t. the signup bonuses it makes sense. But do you have more use for them after the first yr especially?
Not after the first year, no, unless they have upgrade offers.

That’s $5,560 in fees alone for the vanilla plats. You must have gotten some good NLL offers in the last 12 months.
Amex has been handing them out like candy.
Probably military..that’s what we all do.
