MINT coin opportunity on Thursday March 17

3/17 9:20AM update – That was a shit show. Anyway. please fill in the order confirmation form below once you get that. IF ANY OF YOUR COINS ARE BACKORDERED, THAT’LL BE TBD. Come back later or I’ll make a post on what to do with them. If you didn’t reserve a 4 coin set, email me later in the day or tomorrow to see if I have capacity. I should since that was such a shit show.

3/17 12:10PM update – This is how you check for backorder. Log into your MINT order. You can see that the order total isn’t adding the coin’s price to the total. As of right now, it’s TBD on backorders, but don’t be surprised if buyer makes us cancel backorders

3/17 5:15PM update – Due to so many backordered coins, if your 4 pc sets are still in PROCESSING or is NOT BACKORDERED (see above,) email me for some limited extra capacity.

3/22 6:00PM update – A good number of folks have coins in hand already. If you have coins in hand and nothing outstanding, request a label below. If you have coins that are on BACKORDER, it seems the MINT is randomly shipping those out, so give it 2-3 days to see if the MINT ships out the BACKORDER. If they haven’t by that time, request a shipping label to ship out what you have on hand and we’ll deal with the BACKORDER later.

3/27 9:00PM update All coins delivered through Friday 3/25 will be paid out on Tuesday 3/29. If you didn’t get the echeck, check your spam or search for ‘OnlineCheckWriter’.

3/29 9:30AM update All coins delivered through Friday 3/25 were paid out just now. If you didn’t get the echeck, check your spam or search for ‘OnlineCheckWriter’. I won’t be making any future payment updates. You’ll receive your echeck within 3-4 business days after delivery. If you haven’t received it by day 5, please reach out to me.

3/30 6:00PM update If you have coins in hand and some backorders, wait until Sunday to request a label for what you have in hand. Buyer will make a decision on Monday/Tuesday on what to do with the backorders.

4/4 1:30PM update Seems a lot of 4pc sets and other coins went to PROCESSING or SHIPPED over the weekend. Buyer is still accepting the sets as well as any shipped coins. Please do not cancel any backorders at this time.

4/6 7:00PM update If you have a 4pc set that has shipped out already from the MINT, but you don’t have it in hand yet, go ahead and request a shipping label by Sunday night so that you can quickly ship it back out as soon as it arrives. The buyer is going to make a decision on backordered coins by the end of the week.

4/11 9:00AM update – Buyer says to keep all backorders for the time being. When/if he wants us to cancel, I’ll update, make a new post and email folks who locked in order confirmations. Thanks

4/21 1:30pm update Buyer has requested you cancel all backorders. If you have an outstanding label, please ship what you have asap. Thanks

On Thursday, there’s going to be 4 MINT coin opportunities. Please read this post fully.

  • 4 proof set – my buyer is going to pay $350 over cost UPDATE cost is $5332.50 + $350 = $5682.50 payout
  • 1/2 ounce coin – my buyer is going to pay $175 over cost UPDATE cost is $1450 + $175 = $1625 payout
  • 1/4 ounce coin – my buyer is going to pay $75 over cost UPDATE cost is $752.50 + $75 = $827.50 payout
  • 1/10 ounce coin – my buyer is going to pay $25 over cost UPDATE cost is $330 + $25 = $355 payout
  • He is NOT buying the 1 ounce coins

Also note that if the 4pc set, 1/2 and 1/4 coins are sold out, DO NOT BUY THE 1/10 ounce coins. The 1/10 should be added to an order with one of the other 3 coins.

Mint’s shipping cost will be on you, so if the coin is $5000 + $5 shipping, that means the payout is $5350, not $5355.

Clearly, you shold focus on the 4 proof set. ONLY PLACE 1 COIN PER ORDER, MEANING DON’T TRY TO BUY ALL 4 IN ONE ORDER OR EVEN TWO OF THEM because it may sell out on you. Buy the 4 proof set. Once you’ve done that, buy the 1/2 ounce coin. Once you’ve done that, move on to the 1/4 and then to the 1/10 ounce coin.

Insured labels are provided by my buyer. Just keep the dropoff receipt and don’t just hand over to a random driver.

These coins should ship out ASAP and the coins need to be shipped out to my buyer in a timely manner. If you are going to go on vacation for the next 2-3 weeks or you won’t be able to ship out the coins for 3 weeks, then I would suggest you pass on this deal.

I will update this post when the MINT starts shipping out the coins. If your order doesn’t ship out within a few days from when the majority of coins are shipping out, email me so we can make arrangements.

Payment will be made 3-4 BUSINESS DAYS after coin delivery via an echeck.

VERY IMPORTANT TO DO TASK NOW

My buyer has a capacity limit on how many coins he will take. If you want to reserve a spot, please fill out this form. This form is to reserve capacity. You will fill out a separate form after you have placed the order.

3/16 update – Reservation capacity has been met. If you decide to buy the coin and do not have a reservation with me, you can email me after the coin drop and I’ll let you know if I have space for you. Thanks.

If you do NOT reserve a spot, then I may or may not buy from you. It will depend on how many coins people were able to order. You can email me at coinsperday@gmail.com to see if I have allocation.

If you RESERVE a spot but weren’t able to order the coins, sure I get it. Things happen. However, if this happens repeatedly, I will not buy coins from you going forward.

If you RESERVE a spot, order the coins, and the MINT cancels on you later, fwd me the cancellation email to let me know. No harm, no faul; shit happens.

—————————————————————————————

Thursday, after purchasing the coins

  1. Fill in this form
  2. Forward your US Mint order confirmation (wait for the 2nd one that is the ORDER CONFIRMATION and not just ORDER RECEIVED) to coinsperday@gmail.com. Please don’t expect a confirmation reply to the email.

If you’ve done the 2 steps, then you’re locked in.

Shipping label request form once coins IN HAND

DO NOT OPEN THE BOX when it arrives. It should come in a plain brown box from UPS or USPS with from label MEMPHIS, TN. If you bought multiple coins, you can check the tracking to know which coin is which. You can combine multiple coins into A BIGGER OUTER BOX and request 1 label. DO NOT OPEN THE MINT BOXES!

When you have coins in hand, request a shipping label with this form.

Labels are created in a batch once a day. If you miss the cutoff, you’ll get the label the next business day. I will email you a UPS label from my email address. You can then slap the new label over existing label and drop off.

Coin dropoffs

You can then drop off the coins at UPS. Be careful with Staples since their scanning system isn’t integrated into UPS. MAKE SURE YOU GET A DROPOFF RECEIPT THAT SHOWS WEIGHT. DO NOT HAND IT TO A RANDOM DRIVER! Keep this receipt until you get paid.

—————————————————————————————

Payment

When the coins get delivered, an electronic check will be emailed to you within 3-4 business days (takes time to open and process.) Please check your spam folder for an email from Onlinecheckwriter, especially if you have Hotmail/Outlook.

  1. Hey Vinh,
I’m back-ordered on everything except the 1/10 coin which shipped instantly. Am I SOL on this since I don’t have any of the other coins to send the 1/10 with?

    1. Since your 1/10 has shipped, let’s give it a week or so to see if the MINT will ship out your backorders.

      1. Shake it. The individual coin packages are lighter than the set (for sure). And when shaking, I can feel that something hit the box in the set, but not from the individual package.

Definitely, I have not opened any package. They are in a larger box and ready to ship after the label from you.

        1. My buyer records all packages so if something is off with that, he’ll catch it. My guess is maybe you bought 2 coins in one order and the MINT sent you part of your order.

  2. What does the unlabeled “Option 1” mean on the shipping label request form? Should everyone be selecting it or leaving it blank?

  3. So is the reason those of us who reserved a place but have backorders may have to cancel is because the buyer is now just going to accept coins from anyone who will have their coins shipped sooner but never reserved a place? Not too fair if that’s the case, but this is business and so that doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with it. lol. Just wondering if that’s what’s up.

    1. It’s like if a PS6 just dropped and you wanted 10 of them. You ask 10 people to buy it and 1 of them will get it in 3 months due to backorder, then that means you only have 9 when you wanted 10. If someone comes up and goes, “Hey I got 1 to sell.” Do you go, “No, let me wait 3 months for that 10th person’s order to come in or do you go, “Okay SOLD.”

The mint should have just done OOS instead of backorders.

      1. That’s what I assumed. But you left out the part where the buyer wants you to commit to only them, but not quite the other way. They’re free to move on if that commitment doesn’t work for them. But like I said, that’s business. Nothing personal. Maybe these will turn out to be worth it for them to wait for the shipping delay. Are they just waiting to see how the value on these do before deciding whether to cancel or not? Either way, nothing lost but a few minutes.

        1. You can commit to however many people you want but eventually they’ll block you from selling to them (Pinehurst does this too.)

Plus, you can’t even commit to Pinehurst cuz Pinehurst PO’s only last a month if that, so they sure as heck won’t take backorder PO’s. It’ll be interesting to see if Pinehurst bans people who don’t fulfill the PO’s due to backorder but that’s their prerogative. I don’t really care what they do.

I think the buyer gets these graded and sells them and so you need them early to get that ‘first strike’ designation. Tougher to get that 3 months down the road.

  4. I bought three coins but turns out I purchased four. I already submitted the form for three coins. What should I do? Submit the form again with all four coins?

  5. Vinh,

My 4 piece coin set order status was changed to Backorder. Wasn’t like that earlier. Should I cancel or will your buyer wait?

    Thanks

      1. I ordered 4 coin set 1/4 and 1/10. Only 1/10 isnt backordered. Will you take it. Also, can i shop around my backordered ones since you may cancel?

  6. I ordered just the 4 pc set but when I check the site it is saying it is backordered. Did not think the 4 pc would go on backorder. Guess wait and see.

  7. Anybody else got their coins shipped? I just got the UPS tracking number from the Mint. It’s quite a surprise considering I selected budget shipping.

  8. Surprise! my 1/4oz order just shipped with budget shipping. Guess I need to wait until the set and the 1/10 arrived before requesting the label?

  9. One of my orders (1/4oz) changed to backorder after I submitted form. Should I submit a new form, email, or just hold on for a bit?

  10. “If you RESERVE a spot but weren’t able to order the coins, sure I get it. Things happen. ”

So, I RESERVED a spot but was not able to complete the order.

How do I let you know…so that someone else, who was not able to RESERVE a spot, can take my place?

  11. I can’t read simple instructions :(. I ordered the 1/10 by itself. Will this be an issue if I was able to order the set and the other two coins?

    1. You can ORDER the 1/10 by itself. You just can’t submit it by itself. If you also ordered any of the other coins, you’ll be bundling the boxes into one bigger box anyway.

  12. How do we tell if our order is backordered? I just received all 3 confirmation emails, and I don’t see anything about any of them being backordered, but I want to ensure I am not overlooking something.

  13. I reserved a 4 coin set but then snagged an additional 1/4 oz coin. Just got the confirmations and sent the form in with both orders noted. If you want both, I will send both, or I can send just the set. I assume similar answer to me as what you’ve said to others about capacity.

  14. In addition to the reported “Java” error I posted, I also got the CC denials, not fraud alerts though because I have 2 pending transactions approved by Fidelity card and I know they will drop off. I am going to keep tabs in case I get any order confirmations, but as of now, none went through. I did email you Vinh to advise I could not get the set of 4.
I don’t see anyone else reporting Java errors so far. Next time I will have it installed to rule that issue out.

This makes the first one I could not get! I was in with split-second perfect timing and was counting my chickens, as I had beat the rush and had rehearsed checkout too (with some random item all the way up to the final click, of course).

Fidelity has always worked in past deals. I saw someone say they won’t pay out the points though in the comments. Since when? I could switch to Amex.

  15. Was able to get the 4 coin set, but haven’t received confirmation emails yet, though it shows up in order history. Is this typical. I will be happy to send the email once I get it

  16. Did anyone else get a ship date of 23 June for the 4 piece set? It didn’t say backordered or anything else. Will this be a probllem?

  17. I was able to get all four coins (the set + 3 individual coins) but didn’t reserve the set with you. Can I fill out the form for the indivdual coins at least? Thanks.

    1. just wait until later today and email me to see if i have space. need to let all the reservations enter in their orders first

  18. I may have gotten a clean sweep of all four, but one errored out on the confirmation page (1/2 oz). Showing all four pending charges on my cards, but only three emails. Crossing fingers.

Overall, I thought this was pretty smooth. Sold out super fast, but not as many page time outs and javascript errors.

  19. Hi Vinh,

When I submitted the reserve a spot form, I only put in 1 set of the 4-proof set. I was able to order 2 sets this morning. Do you have capacity for another set from me? Thanks.

    1. Email me later today to see if i have capacity once ppl have had time to fill in and I see waht my capacity looks like. It’s looking like I’ll have capacity.

      1. Should I wait for the 2nd email (Mint order confirmation) to fill out your second form? Is it okay if I fill out your 2nd form while waiting for the 2nd email from US Mint. Thank you.

  20. Was able to snag the set(s). Went ahead and followed Step 1 of the post order activity; entered the order info on the Google form after securing order (but still have not received 2nd USM confirmation email yet).

To my knowledge, the order is not BACKORDERED. There was not indication of that on the initial email; unless that form wasn’t supposed to be submitted until the 2nd USM confirmation email was supposed to be received. The form had an unlabeled OPTION 1, which I selected. I presume that I was supposed to, but not sure.

Hope following all the directions properly.

    Thank you.

  21. I was able to buy all but the 1/2 ounce, but I only received 2 confirmation emails. I did check my spam folder. My credit cards show that three payments went through that match the orders. US Mint, of course, is saying that my order history is offline.

Do you want me to send the form with the two order numbers and state that the third is pending? Or should I wait a while before sending in the form?

    1. I was finally able to see my order history on the US Mint website so I was able to add the third to the form finally. All three are showing as “Processing.”
