This was one of the things that uncle Nate got for me – the ionvac robot vacuum. I already have a ~10 year old Roomba that was an FBA return that I use in my living room. Well, I wanted something for my bedroom and I’m too lazy to move the Roomba. Plus this was only like $20 so it was a no-brainer to me.
I run the ionvac on low to medium carpet and it works pretty well. The battery only lasts about an hour and it does take half a day to fully charge. The app works well in that I can remotely start the vacuum and see when it’s stuck. It has a scheduling feature which I haven’t used yet. For the past week, I’ve run it 1-2 times a day and each time it’s done running, I get a noticeable amount of dust (maybe half a handful) that I have to dump out. I’ve been on a mission to run it enough times where there is no longer dust in the bin after a run.
Compared to my 10 year old Roomba – like I said, the 1 hour run time is pretty short. I do think it picks up more dust than the Roomba (but I’m sure newer models would be better.) The only negative thing I’ve seen is that it’s pretty aggressive in trying to get under things so it does get stuck under furniture if it’s a tight fit or while trying to climb a standing fan’s base.
Do I recomend it for $100? Yea I think so. If you’re trying to replace a fancy Roomba, maybe not. It’s all relative though – if you don’t have a robot vacuum now, then I think you’ll be pleased with it.
Shows $97 for me?
